잠수부는 이야기를 꺼낸다. "말하자면 길어." 

고향을 떠난 잠수부와 베타(물고기)가 마주보며 서있다. 손에 넣은 지도를 따라 목적지에 도착했지만, 기대와는 달리 그들을 반기는 것은 황폐해진 땅과 버려진 배 한 척 뿐이었다. 베타는 잠수부를 올려다본다. '……이제 어쩌면 좋지?' 

의외의 불시착은 새로운 출발을 의미하기도 한다. <이제 어쩌면 좋지?>는 <불시착>후 주인공들이 만나 함께 새로운 여정을 시작했지만, 기대와는 다른 목적지의 모습에 가야할 방향을 잃은 그들의 상황을 그린 작업이다. 거친 펜의 사용은 배경이 되는 회화와 인물간의 차이를 부각시키는 만화적 표현이다. 이제는 되돌아갈 수 없고, 새로 도착한 장소에 대한 깊은 실망감에 잠수부는 이야기를 꺼낸다. “말하자면 길어.”
기존의 판넬에 덧댄 충전재는 헬멧에 깊이감을 더한다. 내부 공간 너머로 잠수부의 회상이 이어진다. 잠수부와 베타에게 필요한 것은 사라져가는 길을 따라가는 것이 아니라 그들만의 새로운 길을 찾는 것이다. 이들의 여행은 현재진행형이다. 작업은 이야기를 만들고, 작업을 통해 쌓인 이야기들은 한 편의 시나리오로 이어진다. 캔버스는 시나리오가 빛을 발하는 무대가 된다.

A diver brings up a story. “If started, it is not a short story.”

 

A diver who left his hometown and Betta fish are standing and facing each other. They arrived at the destination with a map, but there were only a ruined land and left boat unlike they expected. Betta looks up the diver. “…what do we do now?”

An unexpected forced landing also means a new start. depicts a situation who lost their way when arriving at the destination and seeing an unexpected scene after meeting the other and starting a new journey as in. The use of rough pens in the technique of a comic book emphasizes the characters by making a contrast with the background. The diver who is deeply disappointed at the destination but cannot go back anymore brings up a story: “if started, it is not a short story.”

The filler on the existing panel adds the depth to a helmet. The memories of the diver are spread into the inner space. The diver and Betta do not need to follow a disappearing path but find their own path. Their trip is ongoing. My work creates a story, and stories from it turn out to be a scenario. Canvas is a stage for it to be alive.
